It continues to dry out across the Northwest. According to the latest USDA numbers, only 29% of Washington is where it should be soil moisture wise for this time of year. More than 28% of the state is under a D-1, or Moderate Drought designation, while over 12% is under a Severe Drought.
Meanwhile in Oregon, only 10% of the state is where it should be for this time of year, most of that being in the NE corner of the state. 60% of the state is under a Moderate Drought designation, while a Severe Drought covers 26% of the state.
Idaho remains in good shape, with nearly 60% of the state on par for this time of year.
Some of the driest conditions in the west are found in the Northwest and northern California.
