Hay stocks in the Northwest saw a sizable jump from 2017 to this year. According to NASS, Washington on-farm hay stocks totaled 230,000 tons down 30% from last year. May 1st stocks represent 8% of 2017 production.
For Oregon, on-farm hay stocks totaled 330,000 tons, up 22% from 2017. May 1st stocks are 10% of 2017 production.
As far as Idaho is concerned, on-farm hay stocks hit 660,000 tons, up 29% from a year ago. May 1st stocks represent 13% of 2017 production.
