The farmers market season in Wenatchee begins tomorrow, Saturday May 13th, at 8:00 a.m.
Past-president of the board Sue Gasbar said they’re excited for the year.
“We have been really busy this winter and we’re really excited to get started. We have some new vendors, we have some new programs, we have been reaching out to the community for some sponsorships.”
That includes a vegan café, a focus on bringing in more egg producers and local meats.
Gasbar said the farmers market can provide a real benefit for the producers.
“It’s so nice for a small farmer to have somewhere to sell their produce. Oftentimes they sell it to restaurants and some stores, but the farmers market is a consistency every week and it builds a community for them.”
It also provides better access to healthy food that can often be less expensive than the grocery store and comes from a local producer to the community.
